The United Nations estimates more than 65 million refugees have been forcefully displaced from their homes. Many of these end up in refugee camps. I am compelled to think of this today, June 20th, “World Refugee Day,” as I’m heading into the area of one of the largest refugee camps in the world. Only yesterday I learned there was even such thing as an actual World Refugee Day. Where I’m headed today, to Mafraq, Jordan, more than 150,000 Syrian refugees are packed into a refugee camp.
